Artist Biography
Irene Boulanger-Michaud always had a keen interest for the arts and started painting in the 80's. She decided to pursue her education in the field and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Universite of Quebec in Montreal. Since then, she is working full time on her paintings, drawings and paper making.
Born in the Eastern Townships and now living in Mont-Saint-Hilaire (Quebec, Canada), she is a member of the Regroupement des Artistes en Arts Visuels and Conseil des Arts Textiles du Quebec. She presented four solo exhibitions, at Port-Maurice Gallery in Montreal, Maison Ostiguy in Beloeil, at Art Station in Mont-Saint-Hilaire, and at Chambly's library. She showed her work in more than a hundred group exhibitions, of which: Art Symposium of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Perspective 99 in Mississauga Ontario, Les Femmeuses 2001, Biennale l'Art et le Papier IV at the Galerie Jean-Claude Bergeron in Ottawa, Passage/PassArt in Rouyn-Noranda, La Biennale Internationale de Miniatures in Ville-Marie and the Art Museum in Mont-Saint-Hilaire. Her paper quilt Clones is part of an international touring exhibition by Huskvarna-Viking. She also participated in Penser Bildung Exhibition touring Quebec.
Her work is part of private and public collections, among others those of the National Library of Canada and the National Library of Quebec.
